September 30th 2002: Hello everyone! Jelena's corner by Todd Spiker should be up here soon but in the meantime I just wanted to let you know that Jelena remains #5 in singles this week..But remember Jelena won this tournament last year ? This means that even by getting the same number of points as everyone else this week (won't happen obviously but gives you an idea), Jelena would be #7.. So we need to check performances by Henin, Seles and Mauresmo this week..

September 29th 2002: Time for another preview, this time the one by Glyn James! By the way, Glyn and Conchita Slice will have pressure with their predictions as Todd Spiker has a winning streak of 4 straight tournaments! Anyway, here is Glyn's great preview:)

September 23rd 2002: Jelena lost a few points last week with her loss in the semifinals and lost one rank in singles, she is now #5..

September 22nd 2002: Wow, talk about a good day of coverage. Today I can present you with two tournament previews. First off, the preview by Conchita Slice presents a view of what Jelena might encounter in Leipzig in this preview while Glyn James wrote a preview about the tournament in general with his weekly prediction also!:)

September 21st 2002: Jelena will be playing next week in Leipzig, she is the #2 seed! You can see the full draw here, not an easy one!

September 21st 2002: Jelena unfortunatly lost her semifinal match in Tokyo, a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 loss to Kim Clijsters...

September 20th 2002: Jelena will play tomorrow her semifinal match against Kim Clijsters in Tokyo, you can read Gerhard's preview here.

September 20th 2002: Congrats to Jelena who advanced to the semifinals in Tokyo with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Tamarine Tanasugarn! She will now face Elena Likhovtseva or Kim Clijsters!

September 17th 2002: Jelena will play her first match in Tokyo tomorrow against the winner of Talaja vs Krasnoroutskaya. Good luck Jelena !

September 16th 2002: Jelena remained #4 in the singles rankings this week despite losing in the semis..On another note, she will not play in Tokyo before Wednesday!

September 15th 2002: It is with great pleasure that I can announce that Glyn James has returned to the staff! He did his first tournament preview today for next week's tournament in Tokyo, read it here.

September 15th 2002: Jelena will be playing doubles next week with Kim Clijsters..One thing to note, Martina Navratilova is unseeded playing with.. SERENA WILLIAMS! Luckily they are on the top part of the draw, interesting combination!:)

September 13th 2002: Jelena was upset in the semifinals of Bahia by Anastasia Myskina 6-2, 6-4! In doubles, Jelena and Eleni withdrew, I am not too sure what exactly is the cause..

September 12th 2002: Congrats to Jelena who struggled but came through to reach the semifinals in Brasil with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win over Amanda Coetzer, she will now face Anastasia Myskina, you can read about Anastasia here. By the way, Jelena and Eleni Daniilidou won their doubles second round 6-2, 6-3 against Panova/Poutchek..

September 11th 2002: Jelena won her second round match in Brasil 7-6, 6-4 despite trailing 4-1 in the second set against Myriam Casanova.. She will now face Amanda Coetzer, you can read Gerhard's preview here.

September 9th 2002: Jelena and Eleni Daniilidou won their doubles first round with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Myskina/Radianova today.. Jelena will play her singles match against the winner of Poutchek vs Casanova (a young promising player).. more from Gerhard tomorrow..

September 9th 2002: No changes today in the new singles rankings as Jelena remained #4 despite her 2nd round loss at the US Open. By the way, Jelena was scheduled to play doubles today with Eleni Daniilidou against Anastasia Myskina and Anastassia Radionova.

September 8th 2002: Jelena will be playing next week in Brasil! She is the #1 seed as Venus Williams withdrew! You can see the full draw here:)

September 2nd 2002: Slight consolation for Jelena as the girl who defeated her in the second round, Elena Bovina, reached the quarterfinals today.. On another note, Jelena is scheduled to play right after the Open in Bahia, Brasil.
