May 28th 2003: Up next, Jelena will face Tina Pisnik in the second round. By the way, Jelena will play her first round in doubles tomorrow on court #10, the fourth match.

May 27th 2003: Congratulations to Jelena who advanced to the second round of the French Open with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Angelika Roesch.

May 27th 2003: Jelena will be playing in doubles with Nadia of course, they are the #5 seeds. They will face Maria-Jose Martinez and Conchita Martinez-Granados in the first match, more details shortly in Nikola's preview:)

May 26th 2003: Jelena will be first up tomorrow in Paris as she is the #1 match to be played on court #2, at 11AM local time.

May 24th 2003: The draw for the French Open is out, see it here! Jelena will face Angelika Roesch in her opening match as the #10 seed! By the way, Karolina Sprem, the unknown player who defeated Jelena this week in Strasbourg is now in the final! Anyway, we should have a match preview from Gerhard tomorrow as well as some tournament previews very soon:)

May 21st 2003: Very sad news as Jelena was defeated in her opening match in Strasbourg, a 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 loss:(!

May 20th 2003: Surprise! It's time for this week's edition of Jelena's Corner, one that was unexpected untill Jelena announced her decision to play in Strasbourg. By the way, for all of you avid Todd readers, be sure to check out his WTA Backspin column here and also tomorrow the Tennisrulz Quiz for May will be released, a good chance to test your knowledge!:)

May 20th 2003: Jelena will be in action tomorrow at 5PM in Strasbourg as she will face Karolina Sperm, you can read a preview here.

May 19th 2003: Jelena decided not to play doubles this week in Strasbourg, probably a good decision since she does not want to spend too much time on the court before the French Open and also because her doubles partner Nadia Petrova is not playing in Strasbourg.

May 18th 2003: Jelena and Nadia made a good comeback in the second set but they finally ended up losing!:( A 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 loss to Navratilova and Kuznetsova...

May 17th 2003: Very nice win for Jelena and Nadia as they defeated Krizan and Srebotnik 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 to advance to the doubles final where tomorrow they will face Navratilova and Kuznetsova. On another note, Jelena's draw in Strasbourg is now out, see it here.

May 16th 2003: Jelena and Nadia will play at 4PM tomorrow against doubles specialists Krizan and Srebotnik!:)

May 16th 2003:  Jelena and Nadia defeated Gagliardi/ Mandula in three sets : 5-7 6-4 6-3. Tomorrow they will meet Krizan/Srebotnik in semifinals ! Also, it was confirmed that Jelena will play in Strasbourg next week.

May 14th 2003: Jelena and Nadia won 6-4, 6-3 in their doubles match. They will now face Hopkins/ Jeyasselan or Gagliardi/ Mandula

May 14th 2003: Jelena is set to play her second round in doubles today as her and Petrova face Farina-Elia and Garbin in the third scheduled match on "Pallacorda", the second most important court there.

May 12th 2003: Oh no...!:( Today, Jelena lost her opening match in Rome, a three set loss to Spain's Conchita Martinez!:( As Gerhard had said in his preview, Jelena is quite unpredictable right now, let's hope she can get things straight for the French Open, that is now only 2 weeks away... By the way, happy birthday to our writer JM:)

May 11th 2003: I've got some very interesting reading for you today as we have 3 new articles! First off, read about the Rome tournament here, then about Jelena's first singles match, against Conchita Martinez here and finally, you have to read this week's edition of Jelena's Corner:)

May 11th 2003: Jelena, who is playing in Rome next week, will be playing in doubles with Petrova once again, they are the #4 seeds. After a bye, they will face Farina-Elia/Garbin or the Serra-Zanetti sisters... Also, if you did not see Jelena's singles draw yet, see it here.

May 9th 2003: Unfortunately, Jelena and Nadia lost their doubles quarterfinal today 6-4, 7-5.

May 8th 2003: Jelena and Nadja won their doubles match 7-5, 6-3 against Kostanic and Marosi. They will face Liesel Huber and Magdalena Maleeva in the doubles quarterfinals tomorrow morning...

May 8th 2003: Wow, a shock today as Jelena was upset by Iroda Tulyaganova 6-4, 2-6, 6-7 in the third round of the German Open!:(

May 7th 2003: Jelena will now face Iroda Tulyaganova from Uzbekistan, you can see our preview here:) By the way, that match (first one on court B) will preceed Jelena and Nadja's first round in doubles as they face Kostanic and Marosi.

May 7th 2003: Congratulations to Jelena who successfully reached the third round today with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Marlene Weingartner. She will now face Iroda Tulyaganova or Dinara Safina.

May 4th 2003: Just some quick news.. Venus Williams withdrew from the Berlin tournament, the draw was changed a bit, you can see it here. On another note, Jelena and Nadja Petrova team up again next week as they are the #4 seeds in Berlin, more news soon...

May 3rd 2003: The draw for the upcoming German Open is now out and Jelena is the #8 seed. After a first round bye, she will face Conchita Martinez or Marlene Weingartner, you can see the full draw here.

May 3rd 2003: Well sadly Jelena's tournament in Warsaw ended today with a 7-5, 6-2 loss to Amelie Mauresmo:( She will now head to Berlin where the German Open starts on Monday, more details soon!

May 2nd 2003: Well Jelena and Amelie Mauresmo will battle off in the semifinals tomorrow. The match is the second one to be played on centre court (not before 1:30PM). This is a big match as Jelena needs to win this one to remain in the top 10 next Monday. You can see Gerhard's preview here!

May 2nd 2003: Good job by Jelena as she advanced to the semifinals in Warsaw with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Magui Serna! She will now face Amelie Mauresmo or Anna Pistolesi.

May 1st 2003: Jelena will play her quarterfinal match at noon, local time, you can now read a match preview here.
