Jelena and 2003 Grand Slams. Well as the 2002 grand slam season came to an end earlier this month; we can honestly look forward to the next season with great expectation as our little princess may win a grand slam or two. I think that in 2003 Jelena may take a step up form the number four ranking walk away with two of the four grand slams on offer. I think that Jelena’s chances lie in the French Open and the grandest grand slam of all Wimbledon. At both tournaments she showed great form losing to Capriati (QF) and then Hantuchova (4th round). Jelena has the potential to win both of these slams in the one year due to her ground shots and mental toughness. Jelena is one of these characters that are able to block out anything when she steps out on the court and she amazes me the way she can do it. It shows Jelena to be very headstrong and to be able to cope with any adversity that may arise. My only great hope is that Jelena may come back to Australia (not as a player as she seems happy but if she wants to come back we will take her back) and hopefully play some tournaments, as I have never seen this beauty in the flesh on the court. Jelena is also a chance to win the US Open and even the Australian Open if she comes back, Jelena is twenty next April and it wouldn’t surprise me that she has twelve grand slams before she retires also in that I see a gold medal at the Olympics. When Jelena finally wins a slam it will be a flow on effect as Jelena is a confidence player when she wins one she will win many. When the champion of champions Steffi Graf won the Golden Grand Slam in 1988 I thought wow no one could equal this, then eight years after that along came the Williams sisters, two years after that our Jelena came on the circuit. It would not surprise me if one of these three players repeated Steffi’s performance in 2004 with the Athens’s Summer Olympic Games. Till next week guys enjoy reading and enjoy being opinionated. |
