The recent defeat against Davenport was a great indicator to show where Jelena is currently at. Davenport is unbeatable at the minute, if Jelena had overcame her she would be knocking on the door of the world's elite, she is just behind them.

Jelena is on hot form at the moment, and looks set to carry it on into the Munich tournament. The Munich tournament offers Jelena a host of prizes. The Prize money is $3,000,000 and the winner of the tournament will gain 390 tour points!

Jelena will face the American, Meghannn Shaughnessy in the first round. Shaughnessy has had her most successful year to date. She won the Quebec City tournament this year, and has reached the final in both Hamburg and Scottsdale. Shaughnessy has been a regular competator on the tour, she reached the 4th rounds of Wimbledon and Roland Garros. Shaughnessy is an experienced player who could could trouble Jelena but Jelena is on fire and she should have the beating of Shaughnessy.

The 2nd round could bring up a repeat of the Linz final! Dokic Vs. Davenport, could Jelena gain her revenge in Munich? The tournament is full of world class players Capriati, Henin, Mauresmo, Serena, and Clijsters (there's no hiding!). If Jelena was to beat the world number 2, Jelena would gain a huge confidence boost which will on improve her game, there would be no stopping her!

For Jelena to gain enough points to reach the top 5 she will have to improve her serve, and regularly beat the top 5 players themselves. The Munich tournament is a tournament of the highest calibre, it is an excellent chance for Jelena to show she is ready to become one of the best players in the world. The tournament is also the last of the season so she will want to finish on a good note.
