A few news..

Jelena is currently in Zurich as you know but has not yet played as she had a first round bye being the #3 seed of the Swisscom Challenge.

First, news about Jelena's singles tournament. As many of you had read or knew already, Martina Hingis' season is now over and she is not playing in Zurich making Jelena the 3rd seed. While the seeds do not change spots, Sandrine Testud, now the #9 seed is on the top spot of the draw and could face Jelena in the semifinals.

The schedule for Wednesday was released a few hours ago and Jelena does not seem to be playing so we can assume she will play her second round match against Chanda Rubin on Thursday.

Finally, good decision as Jelena will not be playing doubles. As the season turns to an end, I think Jelena has to be a bit tired after playing so many matches, probably the most of any wta players since April (when she turned 18 and earned rights to play as much as she wanted)...So not playing doubles will probably help her to be rested in singles and do well for the rest of 2001..
