As i was looking up the world ranking position of Jelenas next opponent, Meghannn Shaughnessy, i could not find her in the first place. First I was looking at the top 15, next top 30, and then I finally found her at 42! The girl i have seen 2002 playing at the first round of the WTA-Championships! And my first thought was: What happened to the 1.80 meters tall girl from
Florida/USA?

2003 started excellent for Meghannn! She won 23 matches in only her first 7 tournaments, which brought her to the quarterfinals of Key Biscane and the Australian Open and won her the tournament of Canberra! But after that the season turned into a complete desaster for the righthanded player, topped by a loosing every match by winning only one single set in October 2003!

And 2004 started not much better for Meghannn. Her trip to Australia can be counted as waste of time and money as she only won one match in three tournaments, there, and included a first round loss at the Australian Open.

But then things changed! She reached the semifinal of Dubai, quarterfinal ofDoha and the fourth round of Indian Wells, which are  excellent results not only for a player around the 40s of the world rankings....

And so i am completely clueless what to think about Mrs. Shaughnessys form now, as she lost the next two opening rounds in her next tournaments, Key Biscand and Amelia Island, again! And especially the latest result the 25 year old girl produced should make everyone wonder what happened: Pierce beat Shaughnessy 6-1 and 6-2!

Jelena will probably not care to much about Meghannns Form. A lot will come down if her body is able to compete with other top players after her injury and even more if her mind can compete with other top players! But actually Jelena should not worry. She played the american number 8 already 6 times, leads the series 4-2, won the last match against her (August 2003 at New Heaven - 2 sets), the onliest match they ever had on clay (Strasbourgh 2002, 6-1 and 6-2!) and never lost to Meghannn when they met in an opening round of a tournament, which was 3 times.....

Again, it should be only Jelena who can beat Mrs. Dokic
today. And again i have to admit: Jelena is fucking good at doing this :(
