Only a few weeks ago, actually at the first tier I tournament this year at
Japan, Jelena played Tatiana Panova and beat her 6-1 and 6-1. And so the
most informations of my last preview are still accurate. Maybe you want to
read that
HERE.
What happened since then? On Jelenas site not much :-( a few rather disappointing results at tournaments which will be probably not found at Jelenas list of the most important tournaments of her life :-) Tatianas went to Memphis, USA, after Tokyo, to play a tier III hardcourt tournament there and first survived the qualification and then beat Rita Grande in three sets, before she had to retire in her second round match to former russian Maria Sharapova in the early stages of the first set. Only one week after that, Tatiana tried her luck at the hard-courts of Bogota, Columbia, with slightly less success. She only made it to the second qualifying round where she lost to worlds number 235, Lana Popadic in straight sets. Finally she played at Indian Wells just recently and lost her opening match to Gala Leon Garcia in a third set tie-break. This is the fourth tournament for Mrs. Panova after the first meeting with Jelena this year, and everything else as a clear win for the Serbian number one over the number 133 of the world would be a big surprise. |
