Jelena Dokic/Nadja Petrova def. Trudi
Musgrave/Abigail Spears-Indian Wells Doubles Round 1, 7-5
and 6-1
This was the first time I had really gotten to see Jelena
and Nadia play up close, I prefer to watch tennis live from
the side of the court rather then behind and I was only
about 12 feet from the court since this match took place on
one of the smaller ones. I was a bit late to this match
since I was out and about but Jelena and Nadia were down
early but had taken control of
the first set and went on to win it 7-5. Both girls seemed
happy and were talking and getting along well as they sat in
between sets. The 2nd set wasn't much of a match as Jelena
and Nadia cruised to a 6-1 victory and looked impressive
doing so.
Jelena Dokic/Nadia Petrova def. Jelena Kostanic/Henrieta
Nagyova-Indian Wells Doubles Round 2, 6-1 and 7-6
I must I was not too impressed with the team of
Kostanic/Nagyova the day before as they had a rough time
with 2 girls I had never heard of Flavia Penneta and Enuka
Salemi who were qualifiers. While the team of Penneta/Salemi
is very easy on the eyes (translation:very cute girls) they
lack good tennis skills, but they may be decent with some
time and alot of practice. So I thought this would be an
easy time for Dokic/Petrova and the first set was a clear
indication of that as they steam rolled to a 6-1 victory.
The 2nd set was a bit tougher as Kostanic/Nagyova woke up
and
started to play a bit and took our girls to a tie breaker
which was played well and won by Dokic/Petrova.
Dokic and Petrova are a pretty good team and should do well
together, they face a tough challenge in the quarterfinal
with the 4th seeded team of Elena Bovina and Rennae Stubbs
but it should be a great match.
