Another
sweet victory
In today's match, Jelena and Daja had a very interesting
opponents in Kirsten Flipkens and Elke Clijsters from
Belgium. This doubles team have never had great results in
the past. Actually, they haven't played for a long period
together, and usually they could be seen in less strong
tournaments. Even so, this team is a very well synchronized
on court, they read each- other's mind very well, which is
very important for doubles game and have a very solid game.
The match started with some great hitting, with many great
rallies, much to the crowd's enjoyment. There were few games
that were proved to be a turning point. Some of very
important rallies in important stages of the match went in
Jelena and Daja's favor. Few lost break and game points were
a bit of wake up for Jelena and Daja to start moving better,
to fight harder, to show they want to win it more. Jelena
and Daja started to hit the ball harder, and many of their
shots were placed really deep. With one set under their
belts, Jelena and Daja started second set matching Kirsten
and Elke in each new game. Kirsten and Elke tried to make
some changes, even to play some of unexpected shots, tried
to do some different things, but that was more the sign of
not knowing what to do, then the plan.
With
some excellent mixing up, along with plenty of slice and top
spin, Jelena and Daja really new what they had to do to
close the match. Even when Kirsten and Elke had their
chances, Jelena and Daja were able to turn their opponent's
would be winners into their own points. More because Kirsten
and Elke weren't able to keep their errors down. They really
had difficulty to handle the unrelenting groundstrokes of
Dokic and Bedanova.
Jelena
Dokic and Daja Bedanova defeated Kirsten Flipkens and Elke
Clijsters 6-3, 6-4.
