Moving On

After yesterday's easy match win against Greta Arn and Marie-Gaianeh Mikaelian in the first round of the Linz tournament, Jelena Dokic and Nadia Petrova went on the court today to play against 32 years old Dutch tennis player Caroline Vis and young up-and-coming Greek's tennis sensation Eleni Daniilidou.

This doubles team didn't have many good results in the past. The only important result from them came in Leipzig this year where they made it to the semifinal.
Even so, it should be said that Caroline Vis has won 9 doubles titles. The last one came in Dubai in 2001 where she was teamed up with a Japanese tennis player Basuki, while Eleni Daniilidou's last success was with whom else then with Jelena Dokic in Bahia earlier this year where they where defeated in the semifinal match.

Dokic and Petrova played a good match today. They really looked like a good team. What was good to be heard is that even they had to play their singles matches today, they tried their best on the court, and the audience really respected that and enjoyed in every minute out there.

Even Dokic and Petrova were tired, it didn't look like that. They were moving good enough, they went for their shots more often. It was a good combination of many great shots, a combination of everything that did go right.

As the match progressed, Vis and Daniilidou tried to change few things, but it didn't went their way, because usually Dokic and Petrova were hitting back. Even when Vis and Daniilidou had their chances, they couldn't win the right points at the right time. Mainly because of some powerful shots that were hit from the other side of the net. They really had difficulty to handle the unrelenting groundstrokes of Dokic and Petrova.

What was also good is the way Dokic and Petrova played their points, really smart way to deal with the situation. Especially in the second set where they have shown the beauty of the game.
At the end, the score is speaking for itself.

Jelena Dokic and Nadia Petrova defeated Caroline Vis and Eleni Daniilidou 6-3, 6-4.
