August 1st 2002: Jelena was solid yesterday evening against world #15 Anastasia Myskina as she won 6-4, 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals where she will now face Meghann Shaughnessy or Jennifer Capriati! By the way, I added a few photos from Wimbledon today in gallery #72.

August 2nd 2002: You can read Gerhard's excellent match preview for Jelena's quarterfinal match vs Capriati here! They will play the night match on centre court, at 7:00PM Pacific Time

August 3rd 2002: Wow, Jelena posted probably her most impressive win in 2002 yesterday defeating #2 seed Jennifer Capriati 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 to move to the San Diego semifinals where she will now face Anna Kournikova! “I’ve beaten Martina and Venus, but I think Jennifer was always the one for me to beat,” Dokic said after her victory. “I consider it the biggest win of my career right now because she’s playing well.”

August 3rd 2002: Jelena advanced to the final of the Acura Classic today with a 6-7, 7-6, 6-0 win over Anna Kournikova! A big win considering that she faced two match points in the second set! She will now face Venus Williams or Lindsay Davenport in the final!

August 4th 2002: Read Gerhard's preview for today's Acura Classic final against Venus Williams here! Also, other news as Jelena will be playing doubles with Kim once again next week. In the first round, they will face Rita Grande and Patricia Tarabini..

August 4th 2002: Too bad, Jelena came short in defeating the world #2 Venus Williams as she fell 6-2, 6-2 to the American!:( Still a great week for her! She will now head to Los Angeles where she will play perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday..

August 5th 2002: Awesome day if you are in the mood for reading :) First off, you can read Jelena's  Corner by Todd Spiker as well as his preview for Los Angeles. Also, a great preview from Gerhard for Jelena's second round match against Tina Pisnik.

August 6th 2002: Jelena and Kim Clijsters won their 1st match in doubles, a 6-1, 6-2 win over Grande/ Tarabini,....!:) Jelena will play tomorrow afternoon against Tina Pisnik in Los Angeles...

August 8th 2002: I am very sorry about the recent downtime on this website, it was pretty much out of my control but we are now gradually moving to a new server! Anyway, Jelena had a convincing start in Los Angeles, a 6-3, 6-2 win over Tina Pisnik... She will now face Janette Husarova

August 8th 2002: After taking an early lead in her 3rd round match, Jelena saw Husarova forfeit due to injury (it was 4-0 for Jelena) leaving Jelena to play the quarterfinals against Rita Grande..

August 9th 2002: Jelena will be playing her quarterfinal match today against Rita Grande, read Gerhard's preview here! That match is scheduled for

August 9th 2002: Jelena advanced to the semifinals in L.A. with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Rita Grande! Congrats! She will now face either Serena Williams or Chanda Rubin! BTW, I know you are all still thinking about this great matchup and I am too but to be honest, I already have my eyes on her tournament in Montreal next week also!:) I will be attending the tournament! So here is the draw and a small preview about the tournament.

August 10th 2002: Wow, talk about a surprising day! After seeing Jelena win her match quite easily, the fans in Los Angeles saw two of the biggest upsets on the tour this year as Ai Sugiyama defeated Jennifer Capriati and Chanda Rubin defeated #1 seed Serena Williams! Jelena will now face Chanda in the semifinals (other one is Davenport vs Sugiyama)... By the way, Jelena and Kim Clijsters defeated #1 seeds Likhovtseva/ Black in doubles 6-4, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals where they will now face Morariu/Po.

August 10th 2002: Sorry for the delay, I was away, anyway, here is Gerhard's preview for Jelena's semifinal to be played later today...

August 10th 2002: No idea what happened but Jelena was eliminated from singles in a 6-0, 6-2 shocker by Chanda Rubin in L.A.!

August 11th 2002: First, bad news.. Being in Montreal all day for qualifying and having problems with internet here, it was impossible for me to upload Gerhard's preview of the doubles final, here it is! Internet situation seems resolved though so I will have someone to help me out to upload such previews this week:) Now the good news is they did win the final 6-3, 6-3 against Ai Sugiyama and Daniela Hantuchova! Jelena and Kim will now head to Montreal (or already have I hope.. lol).. They are the #3 and #4 seeds in singles and will also play doubles together!:)) Seems like a very interesting pair has formed:) I will give more news about it but I expect Jelena to perhaps practice tomorrow...

August 12th 2002: First off, I will invite you to read Jelena's Corner, the weekly column by Todd Spiker. Ok, so I was in Montreal today.. unfortunatly, no sign of Jelena yet, I guess she took a day off today as she hopefully has arrived in Montreal. Same thing for Clijsters. They will be playing doubles tomorrow on court #2, a match I will of course be watching:) Tomrrow, I will also try to get a peak at the match between Sucha and Husarova, I expect Sucha to win and to face Jelena in the second round so I will give more info about that tomorrow.. until then, that's all for me!:)

August 13th 2002: A lot of things are going on with Jelena! Ok, so here is a brief resume!:) Today, I saw Jelena practice in the afternoon with Kim Clijsters, she seemed very relax and it was very fun to watch, I took some photos of course:) Then, later, she played doubles with Kim against Lee/Prakusya, it was really a good match, very nice atmosphere on a smaller court, I think everyone there enjoyed it very much, Jelena and Kim included as they cruised to a 6-3, 6-3 win! Now, Jelena will start her singles tournament tomorrow at 11AM as she will face Martina Sucha. I saw Sucha play today and it should be a good match!:) You can read Gerhard's preview here! She will be playing doubles late that day with Kim against world #1 team Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbs! I will hopefully see both matches and bring back comments tomorrow! Be sure to check the message board for results as I will not be able to update before tomorrow evening (Montreal time). Also, a great new feature that I will talk about more in the next days as some articles will be translated! August 14th 2002: Wow, a great day for Jelena today in Montreal! First off she played a singles match against Martina Sucha from Slovakia, I saw most of the match (missed the last bit), Jelena was not playing her best tennis, far from it in fact but she was doing enough to win, mainly hitting her best shots in crucial moments.. So she is off to the next round with a 6-3, 6-4 win and will now face Alexandra Stevenson tomorrow on centre court (the 3rd match)! I also saw her play doubles with Kim Clijsters against Stubbs/ Raymond, the #1 doubles team in the world, it was an outstanding match to see really, best one that many people saw today in Montreal, lots of good rallies and Jelena/Kim finally won the match! I'll give more details on my daily report on Tennisrulz! Jelena will also play doubles tomorrow, I should attend both matches!:)

August 15th 2002: Jelena will play the third match on centre court today as she will face Alexandra Stevenson.. read Gerhard's preview here!

August 15th 2002: Shaky play by Jelena today in Montreal as she needed three sets to win over Alexandra Stevenson 1-6, 7-5, 6-1! She will now face Martina Hingis tomorrow in the quarterfinals! BTW, later Jelena and Kim lost in doubles against Husarova and Dementieva!

August 16th 2002: Wow, Jelena played a very very impressive match this evening in Montreal dominating Martina Hingis 6-4, 6-3 in probably the best match so far in the tournament, I will give more details on Tennisrulz in an hour or so (it is 4:30AM GMT right now on Saturday)! Jelena will now face Jennifer Capriati in the semis at 1PM, EST.

August 17th 2002: Too bad as Jelena had to withdraw from her singles semifinal in Montreal against Jennifer Capriati as she was trailing 6-7, 0-4.. I'm not sure when exactly it started to bother her but it seemed to be at the start of the second set.. It is the recurring thigh injury..!:( The draw for next week in New Heaven is out but hopefully Jelena will withdraw from that tournament where she has a first round bye..

August 19th 2002: Today, Jelena advanced to a career best #4 place in the WTA singles rankings.. We should have a new edition of Jelena's corner later with more details! On other news, Jelena arrived in New Heaven yesterday and apparently still intends to play singles over there... Also, thanks to Vutt for telling me about these video Jelena interviews!

August 21st 2002: Jelena has withdrew from the tournament in New Heaven due to a sore hamstring..! She also said she expects to be 100% at the US Open.. best wishes to her in her recovery..

August 22nd 2002: The draw of the US Open was released and Jelena will be playing against Greta Arn in the first round! You can see the full draw here. August 29th 2002: I'm not sure what happened but Jelena was shocked in straight sets by Elena Bovina in the second round of the US Open:(
